A bread rosary made in the camp by Maciej Gwiazda or his mother Helena has been preserved in parts. To enable the exhibition and safe storage of the object, it was decided to make a frame.
A similar stand was made for the second rosary made of bread from the museum's collection - Ludwika Stenzel's Rosary received for her name day from Teodora Kaczorowska.
The missing parts of the thread were reconstructed along with the beads and the cross. To distinguish the missing fragments of the rosary, they were made of lighter materials than the original. The selection of shades was preceded by research and consultations. White silk thread and wheat bread baked on sourdough with the addition of wood dust (30% volume) were used. The reconstruction was not combined with the original parts of the rosary.
In addition, a copy of rosary made by Teodora Kaczorowska was created. This copy is exhibited in the Mausoleum of Polish Rural Martyrology in Michniów.
The main task of conservation was to assemble the preserved fragments of the rosary on a selected surface. This was to prevent further destruction of the object and enable its safe exposure. For this purpose, a cassette with an insert covered with layers of oats, cotton and silk was made of acid-free cardboard. Fragments of the rosary were sewn to the surface with a needle and monofilament threads.
In addition, a rosary made by Teodora Kaczorowska was copied. The object is exhibited in the Mausoleum of Polish Rural Martyrology in Michniów.
